Saginaw River 6/29

Postby dgdarling on Wed Jun 30, 2010 4:23 pm

I made it out for a few hours with some friends who were looking to learn a few new techniques (bass types). We fished from the Middle Grounds to the Indy Rail Bridge, trolling and jigging. We ended up with cats, sheep, crappie and 3 eyes. The walleye ranged from 18.5" to 21.25", and they were beefy. The 18.5" went 2.5 pounds and the 21" was 4.75 pounds. The water temp was almost 78°, and it was dirty. They're still there, but not as aggressive as they have been.

Thanks for the report. I'm glad to hear there are still a few in there.

Dan...

were you into that skunk urine you call beer before weighing those fish? You are not supposed to pull down on the tail while you are weighing the fish.... 21" = 4.75 lbs????? Not from the Saginaw Bay Watershed, 3.75 maybe. A 24" fish that we weighed for big fish during the May MWT weight 4.15lbs. Or does putting your name on your motor make fish weigh more? If that is the case, I might have to do that... should look awesome on my 5 horse.

That's probably it. I'll pitch that digital scale out when I get home tonight.
